One minute trailer...

Welcome!
Why not wander and wonder on our trail?

Christingle is a Christian tradition which explores the belief that God made and cares about the world; made and cares about us; and wants us to show love and care for the world and other people. When the candle is lit, it reminds Christians that we believe Jesus is the Light of the world. Whether or not you share these beliefs, we hope you enjoy wandering and wondering with us, reflecting on love and hope, and exploring the symbolism of the orange, ribbon, sweets and candle.

The trail can be found on the fences around the still-being-built park, both on the Woodpecker Close side, and the new footpath beside the primary school playing field.

After you’ve completed the trail, you can collect a make-your-own Christingle kit from inside the Nativity Scene outside Church House (6 Woodpecker Close). [We have 60 kits, and are grateful to Bar Hill Tesco for donating the oranges. Once those are gone, we’ll leave out a list of what you need to make your own.]
You are also all invited to join our Orange Online Christingle Party, at 4.30pm on Christmas Eve, when we will wear orange clothes, eat orange food, and make our Christingles while watching a 20 min video combining music, stop animation, reflection… and ending in that moment of  wonder as we light our Christingle.

But any of you are most welcome to set up your own watch party with family and friends, and make a Christingle together (while safely in your separate homes).

Our resources are based on a national resource produced by Muddy Church and The Children’s Society.
The QR codes give you copies of their posters and more ideas to try at home.

Start the trail on the new path from Wellington Road to Pathfinder Way, then turn back down Woodpecker Close, ending up at the Nativity Scene

Can't make the Christmas Eve Zoom (or just curious)?
Here's the video we'll be watching together...
And where do I go to collect the kit?
The Nativity Scene outside Church House: 6  Woodpecker Close (Taylor Wimpey 1).
While you are there, why not dress up and take a picture of you and your bubble around the manger? Or book in for us to photograph you?

The Children's Society

The Children's Society have been leading Christingle services for many years but this isn't all they do.  They work very hard at creating resources, groups, research and information to raise awareness of the needs of children and young people.  By donating from your Christingle Adventure you are helping to make a difference to children and young people today and tomorrow.

At PATHFINDER CHURCH NORTHSTOWE we'd love to hear how you are marking this season, whatever background you come from, sharing stories of hope and light to remind each other that #YouAreNotAlone.

Perhaps you will join in with our Light Trail, come and get in the picture outside church house, bake-along with friends over Zoom, or add photos of family to your Christmas Tree, or simply turn up the Christmas Music and dance around your kitchen!

Why not share your local stories using the hashtag #ShareTheLightHere?
