Sunday's Civic Events of Commemoration
On Sunday morning, Northstowe is invited to gather on the Green, 24 hours before the State Funeral of her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
We will come together, from all faiths and none, because we share in common the deep sense of loss to our nation.
We will come together to remember
We will come together to give thanks
We will come together to comfort one another in our grief.
And, as our time concludes, we will look to the future: welcoming in the reign of our new King, Charles III, as we stand together and sing the national anthem.
Our service, which will last around 30 mins, draws on resources provided for this solemn occasion by the Church of England, where the Queen has been Supreme Governor, together with tributes from civic and faith leaders, each respectful of each other's beliefs.
______________
In the evening, Northstowe will join the National Minute's Silence. This will be a very short and entirely civic event, featuring the Silence and National Anthem.
Both events will take place on The Green. Please gather ten minutes before the start time.
