Pathfinder Church Club is a place to explore Christian faith together through stories, creativity, conversation, play, prayer and reflection.
It has grown out of what we have learned through Little Explorers, Worship Gang and our wider Growing Faith work. Children aren't simply recipients of something adults have prepared: their questions, ideas, creativity and experiences help shape the community we are becoming.
You do not need to be part of Pathfinder Church, or already know what you believe, to take part. Questions, curiosity and wondering are very welcome.

Church Club is one part of the partnership between Pathfinder Church and The Pathfinder CofE Primary School.
Northstowe is part of the Growing Faith movement, exploring what happens when church, school and households grow together, with children and young people at the heart of our shared life. For us, Church Club is one of the places where that becomes real: children, families, school and church learning from one another and discovering together what faith might look like in everyday life.

Church Club is particularly for children at The Pathfinder School and their households. There are two ways to take part:

An adult comes each week and remains responsible for their child or children throughout the session.
Younger siblings are very welcome too, as long as they remain under their parent or carer’s supervision. Every child who will attend, including younger siblings, must be included on the registration form.
Registered families should come straight to the pre-school doors at the end of the school day and enter Club together there.

We also have a limited number of places for Pathfinder pupils to attend without their own adult.
Children with one of these places will go straight from their classroom to the pre-school at the end of the school day.
At the end of Club they will be returned to the main school reception area, ready to be signed out from the library in the same way as children attending other school clubs.
These places are particularly limited and we expect them to be oversubscribed.

Places are normally offered for the whole term, with many children returning throughout the year
What happens at Church Club?
What happens at Church Club?
No two weeks are exactly the same.
There will usually be a Bible story or another way into our theme, plenty of conversation and wondering, hands-on creativity, play, music and opportunities for prayer and reflection.
We want children to have space to ask real questions, notice what matters to them and explore faith for themselves. Sometimes that might mean drawing or making; sometimes writing or journalling; sometimes talking, listening, being quiet or simply joining in.
If you have been part of Little Explorers, Worship Gang or one of our Pathfinder Church services, some of the feel will probably be familiar.

This autumn we’ll be drawing on Rachel Turner’s Comfort in Uncertain Times, a collection of Bible stories designed to help children explore change, uncertainty, anxiety and transition, and to discover ways of staying connected with God through them.
Each week we’ll begin with one of these stories and make space for real questions and conversation, before responding through creativity, play, journalling, prayer and reflection. We’ll also use our Big Frieze to help us notice where each story belongs in the bigger story of the Bible.
The book was originally written for families as well as churches, so if you’d like to carry some of the conversations on at home, you can read the book yourselves. Church Club is free to attend. The Club is funded through donations made to Northstowe Church Network and through grants, including support connected with Growing Faith and Church Schools of Cambrdige.
If you would like to help make Church Club — and our wider work with children and families — possible, we are always grateful for one-off or regular donations. Even £1 a week from a number of people helps us keep things free and accessible. Find out about giving...
But there is no expectation that families attending Club should give financially.
We would always rather you came and gifted us with your presence than worried about money.

Church Club is part of the wider life of Pathfinder Church, and Club families are very welcome to join us at other times.
Our Sunday gatherings have much of the same feel: stories, big questions, creativity, participation, prayer and space to wonder. Children who come to Club will often recognise the way we do things.
You are welcome to come along on an ordinary Sunday and simply see what it is like. There is no expectation that joining Church Club means you have to start coming to church.
Or you might prefer to join us for one of our special events during the year — things like campfires, celebrations, Christmas events and other gatherings for the whole community.

Pathfinder Church Club is run jointly by Pathfinder Church and The Pathfinder CofE Primary School. To run the Club safely and effectively, both the Church and School maintain registers and need to share essential information about the children and families taking part.
Information you provide when expressing interest or registering for Club may therefore be shared between the Church and School where it is needed to:
administer places and the waiting list;
maintain accurate attendance and collection records;
keep children safe and respond appropriately to medical, allergy or safeguarding needs; and
contact you about the practical running of Pathfinder Church Club.
We will only use and share information that is necessary for these purposes, and each organisation remains responsible for handling personal information securely and in accordance with its data-protection responsibilities.
